Introduction

Parasoft DTP enables teams to configure or update team-wide settings, such as license and report settings, and propagate them across the team’s Parasoft installations.

Connecting to DTP in the GUI

Choose Parasoft > Preferences to open the Preferences dialog and select DTP.

You can configure the following settings.

Server Settings

Enable the Enable option to activate the server settings.

Host nameSpecify the DTP server host name. You can also specify an IP address.
PortSpecify the port number of the DTP server.
Context pathSpecify the context path if DTP is deployed to a location relative to the host provided in the Host name field. DTP may deployed to a location other than the root of the host if your organization uses a reverse proxy server. Refer to the Parasoft DTP documentation for information about reverse proxy server configuration and context path configuration.
User nameSpecify your DTP user name. Contact your DTP administrator if you do not have access. Enable the Default option to use your machine name login.
PasswordSpecify your DTP password. Contact your DTP administrator if you do not have access.

Click Test Connection to verify your configuration.

Project Settings

  1. Click Configure to open the Project drop-down menu and select your current project. The menu will be populated with the projects you have access to if your DTP connection is configured correctly. Contact your DTP administrator if your project is not available.

  2. Click Next and specify the settings you want to automatically configure based on the preferences stored in DTP . Settings you enable in this panel will automatically be updated when the settings are updated in DTP. See the DTP documentation for configuring project settings.

  3. Click Finish to save the project settings.

License Settings

The status of your license displays in this section. No additional configuration will be necessary if DTP is configured to automatically provide licenses, but you can click Configure to manually set the license. See Licensing for additional information.

Continuous Testing Platform Settings

The status of your connection to Continuous Testing Platform (CTP) displays in this section. No additional configuration will be necessary if DTP is configured to automatically provide CTP connection settings, but you can click Configure to manually configure your connection to CTP.

Report Settings

Enable the Enable reporting results to DTP option to automatically send reports to DTP when publishing reports. A valid license with one of the following options is required: Command Line (for SOAtest) or Service Enabled (for Virtualize).

Configuring OpenID Connect in the GUI

DTP ships with support for OpenID Connect user authentication (see the DTP User Guide for details). If OpenID Connect is enabled for your DTP server, you must configure Virtualize to authenticate users via OpenID Connect.

  1. Go to Parasoft > Preferences and select OpenID Connect.
  2. Check Enable.
  3. Configure the following options:
    • Issuer URI: The URI of your OpenID Connect server.
    • Client ID: The ID registered on your OpenID Connect server.
    • Callback host: The local callback host required to communicate with the OpenID Connect server. The following options are available:
      • localhost: The localhost address will be used for communication.
      • 127.0.0.1: The loopback IP address 127.0.0.1 will be used for communication.
    • Callback port: The callback port number for communication with the OpenID Connect server. The following options are available:
      • Automatically select an open port: Automatically selects an open port (recommended).
      • Use port: Allows you to manually specify the port number.
    • Callback timeout: Specifies, in seconds, the maximum time the browser will wait for user credentials.
  4. Click Test Authentication or Apply to open the OpenID Connect authentication page in your browser.
  5. Provide your credentials in the browser window that opens.
  6. Close the browser window when the authentication confirmation appears and continue in the application.
  7. Click Apply to apply the changes.

The Status panel shows the current OpenID Connect authentication status.

Azure Active Directory users: Enter the redirect URL configured above under "Mobile and desktop applications" in Azure AD.

Connecting to DTP Via a Proxy

If a proxy server is required to connect to the DTP server, configure the proxy settings by choosing Window Preferences to open the Preferences dialog, selecting General Network Connections, and configuring the appropriate proxy settings to connect to the DTP server.
