This topic explains how to install Virtualize (which is built upon the Eclipse framework) on a Windows system.

The section includes:

SOAtest - Virtualize Co-Installation

When Parasoft SOAtest and Parasoft Virtualize are installed on the same machine, SOAtest and Virtualize must have an identical version number. This ensures compatibility between both products.

If you are updating an existing installation (including updating from a service pack), be sure to update both products at the same time.

System Requirements

Processor32-bit or 64-bit (x86_64) processor with at least 4 cores
SoftwareJava 8 or higher
MemoryAt least 2 GB RAM
OS

The following versions are supported:

  • Windows Server: 2008, 2012, or 2016
  • Windows 7, 8.x, or 10

Default font size of 8 is recommended.

Installation

To install:

  1. Run the setup executable that you downloaded from the Parasoft Web site.
  2. Follow the installation program's onscreen instructions.

After you have completed the installation program, Virtualize will be installed on your machine. Virtualize will be installed in the specified installation directory.

The default workspace will be set to <user_home_dir>/parasoft/workspace (e.g., C:\Users\username\parasoft\virtualize_workspace)

This default workspace is preselected in the Select a Workspace dialog when you first start Virtualize. If you select a different workspace, that new workspace will be preselected when you start Virtualize from that point forward.

The command line interface uses the default workspace any time that you do explicitly specify a workspace from the command line (with the "-data" argument)—whether or not you have previously run the command line interface with another workspace.
