This topic explains how to use SOAtest’s Response Validation wizard to validate the value of an individual response element in XML or JSON format messages.
To configure SOAtest to validate a specific element from the service’s response message:
- Right-click the appropriate test suite or test nodes, then choose Create/Update Regression Control from the shortcut menu.
- In the Response Validation wizard that opens, select Create Value Assertion, then click Next. The next page will show a tree representation of the expected response message from the server.
- Select the tree node that corresponds to the element you want to validate, then click Finish.
An XML Assertor or JSON Assertor tool (depending on the message format) will then be configured and chained to the test.
