License Server enables you to manage licenses for Parasoft products deployed to your network. Upload the product licenses you received from Parasoft to License Server and, when a tool requests a license, License Server will provide a license token if one is available. You can restrict and allocate license tokens as necessary.

Tokens are issued for 15 minutes. Borrowed tokens are issued for one hour to 14 days, as specified by the tool. Borrowing tokens works for all license types.

A note about usernames

License tokens for floating and named user licenses are granted to usernames. License Server recognizes two kinds of usernames:

  • OS username: the username on the OS of the machine on which Parasoft Tool is running.
  • Login username: the username used to authenticate with License Server (when authentication is enabled).

In OIDC mode, the license token is always granted to the OIDC login username. In non-OIDC mode, License Server grants license tokens to OS username by default. The behavior can be changed to grant license tokens to login username by changing the setting.
