Data Collector is a separate module in Parasoft DTP that is responsible for receiving test results reports from Parasoft testing tools like C/C++test, Jtest, dotTEST, and SOAtest and processing them into your DTP database. Data Collector runs in either Windows or Linux as a separate service, listening on port 8082 for testing result reports. Data Collector is a DTP administrative module; ordinary DTP users do not interact with it. The diagram below illustrates how Data Collector fits in your DTP environment.

Data Collector keeps several log files. See Viewing Log Files for more information about viewing these logs.
DTP comes with a Data Collector Diagnostics widget that you can add to dashboards to track Data Collector statuses such as reports processed recently or currently being processed. See Diagnostics Widgets for more information about this widget.
