As of SOAtest and Virtualize 2026.2, the Parasoft Embedded Data Repository server has been removed, and the standalone Parasoft Data Repository Server is no longer supported. Any embedded and standalone servers from previous versions of the application must be migrated to a MongoDB installation to continue using them. The migration process can be automated with a utility available on the Parasoft Marketplace.

If you are looking to move a data repository from one MongoDB server to another, see Copying and Pasting Repository Data.

Prerequisites

Migrating a Desktop Embedded Data Repository

When migrating from an old, embedded data repository server, you can use a utility to automatically copy data from an existing workspace into a MongoDB Server. The new MongoDB Server must be up and running and the old installation must have been removed or at least not running.

  1. Download the Data Repository Pack from the Parasoft Marketplace, which contains a migration utility designed for this operation.
  2. Extract the contents of the Data Repository Pack, then extract the migration artifact appropriate for your OS to the directory of your choice.
  3. Open the command prompt or a terminal window.
  4. Run the command below. It uses an existing workspace to run a data repository server (source) that can then be used to migrate data into the new (destination) MongoDB server.

    Code Block
    titleLinux/MacOS
    ./run_embedded_migration.sh --data-dir <path-to-workspace> \
      --destination-uri mongodb://<destination-host>:<destination-port> \
      --destination-username admin

    Code Block
    titleWindows
    run_embedded_migration.bat /data-dir:"<path-to-workspace>" ^
      /destination-uri:"mongodb://<destination-host>:<destination-port>" ^
      /destination-username:admin
  5. Once you have migrated from your old, embedded data repository server, you can set the new MongoDB server as your default data repository server in the Data Repository Server preferences.

Migrating a Remote Data Repository Server

When migrating from a remote Parasoft Data Repository Server, make sure both it and the new destination MongoDB Server are running. Note: To make it easier to connect existing assets to the new MongoDB Server, consider deploying it on the existing host, port, and credentials that assets are already using.

  1. Download the Data Repository Pack from the Parasoft Marketplace, which contains a migration utility designed for this operation.
  2. Extract the contents of the Parasoft_SOAVirt_Data_Repository_Migration_Pack.zip file in the Data Repository Pack you downloaded to the directory of your choice.
  3. Open the command prompt or a terminal window.
  4. Run the command below, which provides the utility with the source host and port and the destination host and port.

    Code Block
    titleLinux/MacOS
    ./run_embedded_migration.sh \
      --source-uri mongodb://<source-host>:<source-port> \
      --source-username admin \
      --destination-uri mongodb://<destination-host>:<destination-port> \
      --destination-username admin

    Code Block
    titleWindows
    run_embedded_migration.bat ^
      /source-uri:"mongodb://<source-host>:<source-port>" ^
      /source-username:admin ^
      /destination-uri:"mongodb://<destination-host>:<destination-port>" ^
      /destination-username:admin

You can migrate data from one data repository server to another. This is commonly done to upgrade data repository servers, though it can also be used to copy data from one repository server to another.

Note

This process can take several minutes or longer, depending on multiple factors including how much data you need to copy over to the new repository server, network considerations, and so on. It is recommended that external services not interact with the servers until the process is complete, so plan accordingly.

To migrate data from one data repository server to another:

  1. Start both servers. Be sure the servers start on different ports.
  2. Add both servers to the Data Repositories View, if needed.
  3. Right-click the server from which you wish to move data and select Copy All.
  4. Right-click the server into which you wish to move the copied data and select Paste.
