About Parasoft

...

Parasoft Development Testing Platform (DTP) eliminates the business risk associated with faulty software, accelerates delivery, and facilitates continuous process improvement. DTP monitors and measures the application of quality practices, such as static analysis, unit testing, coverage analysis, runtime error detection, etc. Data generated throughout the SDLC is collected, correlated, and analyzed in order to deliver intelligent, actionable findings that enable you to focus on the impact of changed code and demonstrate full compliance traceability. DTP applies practices according to your development policies, unobtrusively bridging the gap between business expectations and dev/test activities.

Jtest

Parasoft Jtest is an integrated development testing solution designed to help Java developers improve software quality. By assisting in the process of validating Java code and applications, it helps you prevent errors, detect errors more effectively, and increase development team productivity.

Jtest is available as the DTP Engine that can be integrated with your build tools (Maven, Ant, or Gradle) and continuous integration infrastructure. These integrations allow you to automate a broad range of coding best practices, generate analysis reports and automatically send information to Parasoft DTP. DTP can analyze aggregated data and convert it into actionable findings that can assist you in the process of code improvement. Jtest DTP Engine can also monitor and collect coverage data during unit test execution or functional tests performed on a running application. Coverage information and unit test results are sent to DTP and help you assess the quality of your tests and Java applications.

Parasoft Jtest ships with DTP Plugins for Eclipse, IntelliJ IDEA and NetBeans that enable you to integrate Jtest into your IDE. This allows you to leverage the capabilities of the DTP Engine within your development desktop, import findings from DTP into the IDE, as well as utilize additional capabilities available for Jtest Desktop, such as creation of unit testing artifacts.

This documentation provides information on how to work with Parasoft Jtest from your development desktop.

Parasoft Jtest Desktop facilitates:

STATIC ANALYSIS
  • pattern-based analysis
  • flow-based analysis
  • code duplication analysis
  • metrics analysis
  • continuous static analysis
UNIT TESTING
  • creating unit tests with Unit Test Assistant
  • evaluating tests cases
  • improving test quality
COVERAGE ANALYSIS
  • unit testing coverage
  • Java application coverage

Process Intelligence Engine: Predictive Analytics for the SDLC

Image RemovedThe award-winning Process Intelligence Engine (PIE) is a first-of-its-kind predictive analytics engine that identifies risky patterns buried deep in the data and delivers an actionable list of prioritized findings based on your policies. DTP collects the raw observations generated by disparate test and analysis tools throughout the SDLC so that PIE can apply advanced analysis techniques that highlight business risks. For example, DTP can collect coverage from unit testing, functional testing, and manual testing activities so that PIE can analyze and report true coverage. Coverage can also be combined with other metrics to identify application hotspots in areas of the application that present the most significant risk.

Policy Center: Create and Manage Development Policy and Quality Gates

Image Removed

Ensure that software is being developed according to business objectives by encapsulating expectations into policies and setting quality gates that enable you to clearly understand the risk of a release candidate. A policy can include tolerable levels of violations, defects, complexity, and other criteria. You can also designate how code should be analyzed in central test configurations and distribute them to your development teams to ensure consistency and maintainability.
